Lonehill Estate
I know I’ve posted about Lonehill estate before, a new Local Band. I really think they have some great potential, and had to share some more info on them. So here is a bit of a run down:
Lonehill Estate was formed in the Johannesburg Summer of 2003 when musicians Jonathan Ross and Brett Beverley (who had previously played together with Spilt Milk) joined the remnant of Cracked Plastic to form a new band. In 2004 Front man Gus Doyle had to pull out of the band due to another calling and with Brett overseas the band found itself down to two members. Around this time Jono entered the reality competition ..Project Fame Africa.. and quickly developed a following thanks to his antics in the house – and his sheer musical talent. Jono eventually came in second, securing a record deal with Sony BMG Africa.

Lonehill Estate – Gangstar lyrics.
I’ve heard of Lonehill estate before, but never heard any of their music. The other day, this song (lonehill estate – gangstar) played on the radio, and I just loved it, but I missed the band name and song title. So after days of searching on the internet and asking people, I finally found it.
Lonehill Estate is one of the top live performing bands in South Africa. with their mischevious rock sound poking fun at politics and the music industry, their shows are riddled with offensive anecdotes and eye-twitchingly good music. The band burst onto radio in 2005 with hit singles “Girl on a Roof” and “Skyward” dominating. In 2007 the band represented South Africa in London at the Global Battle of the Bands where their drummer at the time (Travis Marc) took home the award for best drummer.
More
Anyway, here is the lyrics of the song. (I think)
She will have a beer, and I think I’ll have a milkshake
She grew up on the street, and I live on an estate
She call me gangster, but I don’t know what that means,
she call me rock-star, long hair token knit jeans
She call me gangster, but I don’t know what that means,
She call me gangster, what the hell does that mean
She’s a work of art, she brightens up a bedroom
I can sing a song, but she can find the dance moves
I treat her like a lady, in the hope that she will come around
come around, come around Baby
I know that I wouldn’t change a thing
She call me gangster, but I don’t know what that means,
she call me rock-star, long hair token knit jeans
She call me gangster, but I don’t know what that means,
She call me gangster, what the hell does that mean
My body’s nobody’s body but mine
she makes me nervous almost all of the time
My body’s nobody’s body but mine
she makes me nervous but she makes me feel like a Ganster
she call me rock-star
she call me gangster
she call me rock-star
She call me gangster, but I don’t know what that means,
she call me rock-star, long hair token knit jeans
She call me gangster, but I don’t know what that means,
She call me gangster, what the hell does that mean

social experiment about perception, taste and priorities of people
would you have noticed?
A man sat at a metro station in Washington DC and started to play the violin; it was a cold January morning.
He played six Bach pieces for about 45 minutes. During that time, since it was rush hour, it was calculated that thousands of people went through the station, most of them on their way to work.Three minutes went by and a middle aged man noticed there was musician playing. He slowed his pace and stopped for a few seconds and then hurried up to meet his schedule.
A minute later, the violinist received his first dollar tip: a woman threw the money in the till and without stopping continued to walk.
