Faster than light radio waves in a computer?

This is just amazing.

“…Scientists have been plagued by Einstein’s theories which state nothing can travel faster than light. But over the past decade or so, we have seen a new branch of physics theorized, one which might give Einstein cause for pause. It’s called Superluminal Electromagnetic Field / Wave Propagation, which is basically a form of faster than light relativity. Experiments have been conducted by several scientists which involve light and radio sources traveling at speeds well in excess of the speed of light. Seem possible?

Earlier this year, a physicist called John Singleton created an application of this theory which he believes could greatly advance semiconductors…”

“..Being applied to semiconductors, the idea of transmitting data across the entire width of a CPU in a single clock, or even less than that, would mean faster caches, the ability to communicate across separate pieces of silicon nearly instantly (1 clock cycle), which means semiconductors could be made piece meal, being assembled wirelessly in the final package through EM frequencies which operate only over a few centimeters….”

MAGENN AIR ROTOR SYSTEM (M.A.R.S.)

Magenn Power’s MARS is a Wind Power Anywhere™ solution with distinct advantages over existing Conventional Wind Turbines and Diesel Generating Systems including: global deployment, lower costs, better operational performance, and greater environmental advantages.

MARS is a lighter-than-air tethered wind turbine that rotates about a horizontal axis in response to wind, generating electrical energy. This electrical energy is transferred down the 1000-foot tether for immediate use, or to a set of batteries for later use, or to the power grid. Helium sustains MARS and allows it to ascend to a higher altitude than traditional wind turbines. MARS captures the energy available in the 600 to 1000-foot low level and nocturnal jet streams that exist almost everywhere. MARS rotation also generates the “Magnus effect” which provides additional lift, keeps the MARS stabilized, and positions it within a very controlled and restricted location to adhere to FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) & Transport Canada guidelines.

bar in a tree

Yip, In Limpopo, South Africa, there is a bar built inside a huge tree.

Grown in the grounds of Sunland Farm, the tree trunk is so wide it takes 40 adults with outstretched arms to encircle its 155 foot (48 meters) circumference. The trunk is hollow, but its walls are still up to 6.5 feet (2 meters) thick.

The tree has its own cellar, with natural ventilation to keep the beer cold.

Carbon-dating has determined the ancient tree to be about 6,000 years old. “This tree is likely to be older than the Giza Pyramids of Egypt.” said Heather van Heerden, owner of Sunland Farm.

911 Camel ambulance

Fresch, a student at University of Pforzheim, have designed a camel emergency kit. It includes a “baja”, which is a cool racing-shaped light-weight camel vehicle, for bringing doctors to your locations.

I think its a great idea, but won’t really work if a patient is shot and needs to be stable. The camel ride might be a bit mutch.

The 15 Coolest Cases of Biomimicry

Biomimicry – The practice of developing sustainable human technologies inspired by nature. Sometimes called Biomimetics or Bionics, it’s basically biologically inspired engineering.

1. Velcro

The most famous example of biomimicry was the invention of Velcro brand fasteners. Invented in 1941 by Swiss engineer George de Mestral, who took the idea from the burrs that stuck tenaciously to his dog’s hair. Under the microscope he noted the tiny hooks on the end of the burr’s spines that caught anything with a loop – such as clothing, hair or animal fur. The 2-part Velcro fastener system uses strips or patches of a hooked material opposite strips or patches of a loose-looped weave of nylon that holds the hooks. Coolest application: Championship Velcro Jumping, first made popular in 1984 by David Letterman.

2. Passive Cooling

The high-rise Eastgate Centre building in Harare, Zimbabwe was designed to mimic the way that those tower-building termites in Africa construct their mounds to maintain a constant temperature. The insects do this by constantly opening and closing vents throughout the mound to manage convection currents of air – cooler air is drawn in from open lower sections while hot air escapes through chimneys. The innovative building uses similar design and air circulation planning while consuming less than 10% of the energy used in similar sized conventional buildings!

Great advertising

This is a really great blog that deals with still advertising, It shows us what the people actually can do with your product, if the time and money is put towards using it right.

It’s like 7 Eleven are viewing their giant sculpture as akin to a war memorial, built in adverse conditions. Look at those poor tradies who slaved hour after hour (probably no more than 3 without an iced coffee and smoko break) to put together this piece of history. O glorified Slurpee monument, how we shall always commemerate this special day.I think the problem here is that 7 Eleven may have temporarily forgotten it’s audience.
